| Ideally these lamps are meant to remain on
most of the time to keep them heated and get benefited from
its beneficial characteristics. In such a use the following
problems will not occur.
1. Salt has hygroscopic properties, which means that it draws
water from the surrounding atmosphere. Salt Rock Lamps should,
therefore, never be placed in a humid room or outdoors. In
humid conditions, the lamp surface may be slightly damp to
the touch. Turning on the lamp for a few hours dries it very
quickly.
2. If you plan not to use the lamp for long periods of time,
but want to keep it on display, wrap it in a polythene bag
over the lamp, providing a hermatically sealed environment
to protect it from humidity.
3. Cleaning of the lamp should be done by a slightly moist
sponge or cloth. Remeber, salt is highly soluble in water
so using a wet cloth is not recommended.
4. Keep the lamp out of the reach of children. These lamps
are rocks and can hurt children.
5. Water can damage wooden furniture. Dont keep the lamps
without a water proof base on them. In case of severe humid
conditions, it is better to let the lamp be always lit to
avoid water pond around the lamp.
6. Follow the proper instructions to change the bulb. Dont
pull using the wire.
7. Use recommended bulbs only. We have experienced (though
rarely) that when too hot, the lamp can draw water as well.
8. Unplug the lamp before changing the light bulb to prevent
electric shock.
